The secret attraction to this wooden vessel is the material it is made from – tree-farmed teak. Teak, sometimes called golden wood, is so prized that almost fifty years ago the major supplying countries in Southeast Asia banned exportation of the wood for fear of its extinction. In the past half-century, plantation raised, virgin teak has slowly grown to harvestable size and is returning to the market.
